SpotsPOS Repair
Square for repair shops: a great register, but where do the repairs go?
Square is one of the best known point of sale systems, and many repair shops start with it. This page explains what Square for repair shops covers, what it does not list, and how SpotsPOS Repair adds repair tickets while you keep taking payments through Square.
Free for 14 days. No credit card needed.
What a repair shop needs that a general POS does not list
A retail sale ends at the register. A repair starts there and can run for days. These are the parts of the job SpotsPOS Repair is built for.
-
A ticket for every device
Device type, brand, model and problem in four taps, with the passcode or unlock pattern and the customer's signature saved on the ticket.
-
Status from intake to pickup
Pending, In Progress, Awaiting Parts, Repaired. Filter the Repairs list by status, or drag cards across Repair Board on iPad.
-
Parts that leave stock with the job
Parts come off the shelf count when they go on a ticket, so your stock matches what is on the bench.
-
Tell the customer it is ready
Notify the customer when the device is ready for pickup, so fewer people call to ask.
-
Find any device by IMEI
Search repairs by IMEI, customer name or ticket number, and see each device's history.
-
Warranty on every repair
Set a warranty period, see what is left on it, and reopen the ticket if the device comes back.
Square for repair shops: what Square covers
Square is a well known general point of sale with inventory, loyalty, gift cards, an online store and team tools, as listed on its Square for Retail page. What its Retail and Home and Repair pages do not mention is a repair ticket: no device check-in, no work orders and no repair status tracking.
Square vs SpotsPOS: plans and prices
Square prices are as listed on the Square for Retail pricing page on October 10, 2026. SpotsPOS prices are on our pricing page.
| SpotsPOS Repair | Square for Retail | |
|---|---|---|
| Plans per location, per month | Starter $45 (1 employee), Essential $74.99 (up to 3), Pro $89.99 (up to 10) | Free $0, Plus $49, Premium $149 |
| In-person card rate | Not part of the plan price | 2.6% + 15¢ (Free), 2.5% + 15¢ (Plus), 2.4% + 15¢ (Premium) |
| Repair tickets and status tracking | Yes, every plan | Not mentioned on the pages listed above |
| Buybacks and used devices by IMEI | Yes | Not mentioned on the pages listed above |
On subscription cost alone, Square Free costs less than any SpotsPOS plan. What the SpotsPOS price buys you is the whole repair workflow.
You do not have to choose: use Square with SpotsPOS
If you already have Square hardware you like, keep it. With the Square integration turned on, you create the sale in SpotsPOS, with the repair's parts and labor already on it, and take the card payment through Square, including on Square Terminals. The Square app needs to be installed and signed in on the same device. Integrations are included from the Essential plan.
Where SpotsPOS shines
Simple from day one
A lot of shop software is overcomplicated and takes weeks of training before your team is comfortable. SpotsPOS is built to be simple. A setup checklist on the Home screen walks you through getting started, the guided flows need no training, and a new hire can check in a repair on their first day.
Built for iPhone and iPad
SpotsPOS Repair was built as a native iPhone and iPad app from day one, with a web portal for the office. Your whole shop fits in your hand: scan an IMEI or serial with the camera, have the customer sign on the screen, start your everyday jobs from Quick Repairs, and use Siri Shortcuts. On iPad, Repair Board shows every open repair as a card you drag from status to status. If the internet drops, your repairs, customers, sales and inventory stay on screen, so the counter keeps moving (offline mode).
Spots Intelligence in every screen
Describe a repair in one sentence, out loud or typed, in English or Spanish, and SpotsPOS fills in the device, the problem and the priority. Pick a model and a repair and it suggests the parts that job usually needs. At checkout it recommends in-stock products that sell well with what is in the cart. And you can ask your shop a question, like "How's today going?", and get the answer. Read more about Spots Intelligence.
Automations that work while you fix
Webhooks send each new repair, each new sale and your end of day summary to Zapier, Make or your own server the moment they happen. New customers can go straight to your Mailchimp or Constant Contact list, new appointments land on Google Calendar, and with Twilio connected, one tap on Notify Customer texts them that the device is ready. See all integrations.
Used devices are part of the business
Buybacks and device management are built into the repair app, so a trade in becomes stock you can sell, tracked by IMEI with its grade, cost and warranty.
Spanish all the way through
For shops in Puerto Rico, Latin America and bilingual neighborhoods in the US, your technicians and front desk can work in English or Spanish.
Spots Intelligence and integrations are included from the Essential plan, webhooks and Employee Manager with Pro. See pricing.
